Sign your kids up for a fun-filled day at Discover Science Center. Our science/STEM camps are enhanced with art and creativity projects to help kids integrate what they have learned.
Hours: 8:30am-4:30pm - Drop off begins at 8:30am. Campers must be picked up by 4:30pm
Rate: $360/week. Sibling discount available (10% off additional sibling registration for same session of camp).
Ages: Campers are grouped by age (6-8 and 8-11 year olds) for age-appropriate activities and instruction by our Camp Leaders. Some activities will have the age groups combined. NOTE: Age groupings may change slightly depending on the number of campers registered for each age group.
ACTIVITIES & DATES
MED AND VET SCHOOL CAMP (Monday-Friday, June 10-14)
Ages 6-11
- Young campers learn about the tools doctors and veterinarians use, study how our bodies and our pets’ bodies work, get grossed out with brains, burps and x-rays, and investigate germs.
- Older campers study how the body works, use microscopes to see what different types of cells look like, and even investigate a real (not human) heart and brain. Our Doctors-In-Training learn basic first aid and care for animals, as well as study dental and bone x-rays.
OCEAN SCIENCE CAMP (Monday-Friday, June 17-21)
Ages 6-11
- Young campers explore the beach and ocean this week. They learn how sand is made, experiment with water density, dissect a squid and other ocean creatures, study their favorite sharks, and more.
- Older campers discover what it is really like to study ocean habitats and creatures as they learn about saltwater tanks, experiment with buoyancy, study sharks, dissect different marine organisms, and see how scientists conduct research.
MAD SCIENCE CAMP (Monday-Friday, June 24-28)
Ages 6-11
- Our younger campers love potions. This week the young campers explore chemistry by creating potions that change color, fizz, bubble and smoke, learn about polymers, make non-Newtonian fluids, and study the power of magnetism.
- Older campers conduct laboratory experiments involving chemical reactions, experiment with polymers, create metal crystals, and explore electricity with circuits and magnetism with ferrofluid.
ROCKS & DINOSAURS CAMP (Monday-Friday, July 8-12)
Ages 6-11
- This week, young campers investigate characteristics of rocks and gemstones, learn about crystallization as they create their own “geodes,” break a real geode to take home, study dinosaurs and fossils, and dig like a paleontologist as they search for prehistoric life forms.
- Older campers explore rocks, gems and fossils, make crystals and fossil replicas, break open geodes to take home, study dinosaur biology, investigate their favorite dinosaur, and create a dino robot.
